"Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever."
Isaiah 9: 6,7

Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
long time ago in the land of Galilee, a young girl named Mary was
visited by an Angel of the Lord. "You are blessed among women," said the angel. "For you will have a son, whom you shall name Jesus. He shall be called the son of God, and his kingdom will never end." Mary was surprised because she was a virgin, and engaged to be married to a man named Joseph. "How can this be?" she asked the Angel. |
he Holy Ghost will come upon you," said the Angel. "And there you
will conceive the son of God." Mary bowed her head. "I am a servant of the Lord," she said. "Let it be as you have said." The Angel departed, and left Mary alone with her thoughts. |
n Angel also visited Joseph, and told him about Mary's baby. At first
Joseph was afraid of what others in the village would think, but the Angel clamed his fears, and Joseph married Mary. Soon after, it was time to register their names in Judea, so Joseph and the now- pregnant Mary traveled to Bethlehem. It was a weary journey for Mary, who was very heavy with child. |
hen they reached Bethlehem, they were very tired, but there were no
rooms left at the Inn. Seeing that Mary was about to give birth, the Inn keeper led them to a stable to stay in. Mary and Joseph were grateful for the warm place to sleep. |
t last, Mary delivered her first born child, and named him Jesus
as the Angel had commanded. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and placed him gently in a manger. |
here were, in the same country, shepherds, keeping watch over their
sheep at night. Suddenly an Angel appeared before them, and they were afraid. But the Angel said "Fear not! For I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be for all people." |
"For a child was born this day in Bethlehem- A savior who is Christ the Lord."
nd this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped in
swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." And then the sky filled with angels, singing "Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth Peace, Good will toward men." Then the angels departed and the shepherds said, "Let us go and see this child which the Angel told us about." They found the baby lying in the manger, with Mary and Joseph by his side. They were so amazed with the child, and his story, that when they left, they told everyone they met about him. |
ventually, King Herod heard about Jesus, and was jealous that he had
been proclaimed "King of the Jews." Herod sent three wise men out to find the child, and learn if his story was true. The three wise men tried to find Jesus, but they got lost on the way there. A very bright star was shining above their heads in the sky, and the wise men followed it to Bethlehem. When they saw Jesus, they were so happy, and they gave him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh. |
he wisemen warned Mary and Joseph that King Herod was jealous of
Jesus, and told them to take the child away where Kind Herod couldn't find him. They obeyed, and stayed away for several years. Jesus grew tall and strong in spirit, and later taught the people about the grace of God. |
